Athens Flying Week 2025

Athens Flying Week 2025

Perhaps the best airshows I have visited - good weather aircraft and organisation

I made sure to get the grandstand ticket for this show, but unfortunately Row 10 was sold out meaning I was not permitted to stand up for the duration of the show. If possible, I would highly recommend spending the extra 10 Euros to get the top row to improve your panning.

Food was only available from a couple of vendors, selling sandwiches, hotdogs, wraps etc. but I went with the pork kebab skewers which were delicious. 750ml of cold water was 1 Euro, meaning surviving for the day was relatively cheap compared to other airshows.

Despite being very hot, heat haze was not too much of an issue except for aircraft close to the ground and far away, namely when the rotary assets dropped troops down a fast rope. Heat haze peaked around 1100-1400h.

Athens flying week was one of the few remaining airshows to see the Hellenic Phantom before its impending retirement, highlighting why it was so important to attend.

The Hellenic F-16 demo 'Zeus' performed a dedication pass in honour of Slab, the Polish F-16 display pilot who was tragically lost in an accident leading up to the Radom airshow only a number of days prior

The gorgeous light sea grey scheme of the Aegean Hawks display team in the strong Mediterranean light made these a lovely act to photograph, especially when both aircraft fitted in the frame.

There were a number of other displays and flypasts by the Hellenic Air Force, with the highlights being the Mirage take-offs, another rare type we were lucky o see participate at Athens Flying Week.

Another highlight for me was the Daedalus display, keeping it so low on departure.
