Mach Loop
11/05/24
Having been treated at my first visit to the loop to 12 F-35B passes, 2 Hawks, an A400 and a Texan, I was eager to revisit - this time with Brunel Heritage and Burner Aviation Photography.
We decided on Cad West, same as last time as this yeiled some fantastic results. At first, it was a slow start to the day, when at 1106 we heard a rumble. Having been taunted by faint engine sounds from the road below we thought nothing of it until it lingered for a little too long to ignore.
Over the top of Cad East came one of HM Coastguards S-92As - G-MCGY. This was a complete surprise and a very welcome blank buster. It conducted 3 passes, with the side doors open and the crew waving, before departing LFA7.
Next came PAGAN flight of 2x Hawks from Valley at 1245, conducting 2 passes. First through the loop was ZK021 as PAGAN21 closely followed by ZK025 as PAGAN22. Unfortunately on both passes I only managed to capture the leading aircraft due to the tight formation held.
It was nice to get some more usable shots compared to last time - on this visit they were much lower.
Another hour went by, then a Texan came through at 1358 and another at 1653. I heard that an A400 was due to loop but sadly needed to get back home. Turned out it looped at about 2000.
I tried to get the famous "Office Shot" with one of these texans, and I'm very happy with the results...
Overall, a good day although a little quiet on the movements side but certainly made up for by great company.
